World' s Record Grizzly

The winner for the most inquiries to TrophyWatch has to be the rumors flying around about this bear. We can’t count the number of people who have sent TW this photos and an ever-changing story. Once we started receiving attachments of the man this bear was supposed to have feed on we thought it was time to report the facts, as we know them:
Not a grizzly, but a brown bear
Did not kill and eat anyone
Wasn' t 12.5" and 1600 pounds - squared 10.5'
World' s Record Grizzly

Was shot legally with a .338, not a 7mm, 9mm or .500 Nitro
Didn' t charge a forest ranger
Was shot by a USAF airman
Not a new World' s Record (brown or grizzly)
(the original story on reymans link says grizz but i don a think so, i could be wrong ???? ) [:-]

RE: here' s a big bear
I hope the original poster of this thread and the rest of you reading this know that the story posted is a complete myth. The bear did not eat anyone and the guy was deer hunting but he also had a bear tag. The bear is not the biggest in the world and the guy did not shoot it in self defense. I don' t think he used 7 mag either. I also received the story in an e-mail with the " graphic" picture of a mans leg chewed to the bone but its a hoax. I tried to find the story here on this website but its too old, I think.
The name of the thread I believe was called " It was supposed to be a relaxing deer hunt but...." If you can find it read the real story. It is a big bear though.
