Antelope hunt pics
Got back from Wyoming on Sunday. Had a great hunt, the weather was nice. Saw a lot of antelope and a few mule deer. Took this one at 285 yards quartering away.
12" horns. I used 130 gr Winchester power point factory ammo in .270 win.

Good job neweboarhunter, nice shootin also. 285-yards for some people is out of the question. I honestly know people that will not shoot over 100-yards.
I have two antelope tags in my back pocket right now. Season opens sunday for me. I can hardly wait. Your post is not helping me any either.

RE: Antelope hunt pics
Thanks all for the compliments. Well the shot I made on this antelope is the farthest one I connected on. About 2 hours before a got this goat I tried a 500+ yard shot on a coyote, I overshot him and he took off like a scaled cat. The wind was almost nil on the day we hunted, wich helped us make some nice shots.
In our " group" of nine hunters we all tagged out the first day. The longest shot was 320 yards. The shortest was 68 yards. All of these distances were confirmed with more than one lazer range finder the bucs measured from 8" to 15 1/2" .
The cartridges used in our group were:
4---.270 Win
1---.270 Weatherby spare
1---7mm-08 Rem
1---.308 Win
2----7mm Rem Mag
1----.300 Win Mag
When we compared the performance of these cartridges, we confirmed what we already know. 1. Antelope hit through the lung/heart usually ran a short distance then lay down and die. 2. A controlled fast opening bullet is most effective. 3. Antelope hit wrong had to be shot again, no matter the cartridge.
