Default Hello and Nebraska Mule Deer

Hello,
I am new to the forum and may have missed the introduction area and I apologize if I did. I am 43 and have lived in Southeast Minnesota all of my life. We grow some nice Whitetails here and love every minute of it. I would like to research doing a public land mule deer hunt in Nebraska. I am looking at the Crawford and Chadron areas. I am not looking for handouts or specifics but any information or direction would be greatly appreciated. If you are looking for Minnesota information please do not hesitate to ask I would love to help!

Brian

You're looking at the right area and welcome to the site! A friend of mine that lives in Chadron has told me that if I go out to hunt mulies with him not to expect much, as the whitetails are the main deer in that area too and getting a big mulie on public land is not to be expected.

Topgun,

Thanks for the information, it is appreciated. I am looking more for the experience. Filling the tag is a bonus in my book. I'm thinking about staying in Chadron and hunting the Grasslands or Ft. Roninson Park area. There is a smaller WMA we thought about to but I can't remember the name, I think it is north of Hay Springs.

I agree with you 100% and if everyone looked at hunting like that they would all be better off!

That is where I am going next year for white tail on the bow. Should be good.

If you want to be in to thick mulies look into Craig, CO. They are everywhere there.

We don't have any deer here. I wouldn't even bother coming.
