East vs West Deer Management?
Just read an article, 1 man's opinion that western mule deer should be at least 30:100 ratio
here in the midwest whitetail we're constantly told 1:1 is ideal, so 100:100
seems like 30 vs 100 is quite a difference, both are deer, whitetail vs mule deer.
Your thoughts?

I live in the west...whatever that is. We have both types of deer. It is abundantly obvious that whitetail thrive and survive faster and more effectively. In fact the state of CO had made it clear, by license opportunities they want to control WT deer. Mule deer are their favorite child. List b licenses ( additional deer licenses ) are for WT does. It generally takes preference points to draw doe mule deer licenses.

I think for those doing "antler" management, the recommended whitetail ratio is 1 doe:1 buck. For "population" management I believe the whitetail ratio is 4 does to 1 buck. Not all that different from 3:1 for mule deer if that's the recommended ratio for them.
