AT Hiker

I have been doing some research on rifle cow elk hunts in the Big Horns for 2013 and I have been looking at 37, we are hoping to get drawn for Y in Oct to mule deer hunt. Anyway...just wondering if anyone could give me a little direction? Basically how is the hunting pressure on the cows and how is the early October hunting (I should be there from the 5-15, then start deer hunting)? I will be by myself and like I said it will also double as a scouting trip once Im done elk hunting.
