I am not sure if anyone is interested in this kind of information. But, if you carry a Ruger SRH Alaskan with the 2.58" barrel for a backcountry backup/defensive handgun, here is some handload information. This information was gathered at different visits to the firing range.

I had recorded this information elsewhere but I wanted to share it with ya'll. Hope it is useful.

I took my Ruger Alaskan to the range this weekend. The goal was to look into the velocity this short-barreled gun can produce. Here is the information.

.454 Casull Star-line cases
335 grain Cast Performance Gas Checked LFN
25.8 grains H-110

Average velocity was 1070 FPS.

Hey Folks,
I took my Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull, 2.58" barrel, to the range, yesterday. One of the strings I fired included 23 grains of IMR 4227. It was certainly not a fast shooter but it was nice looking in terms of velocity range.
