Hunters, which mistakes have cost you game?

RE: Hunters, which mistakes have cost you game?
Went out one morning in the cool crisp mountain air. Had about three inches of new snow on the ground. I ended up not seeing anything that morning. Came back to camp a little before lunch time to eat. Me and my father met at camp at about the same time. We checked the horses and cooked an early lunch. Well we decided to take a short nap to rest up for the after noon hunt. After waking from the nap we went to feed the horses and low and behold an elk had walked through camp not 10 yards behind the tent and stepped in our very own tracks we had just made checking on the horses before the early lunch. The rifles were sitting just outside the tent and we were sleeping in the tent. Never saw the elk but it was a rather large set of tracks. I' ll never forget that one.
When your in the woods you are hunting no matter where you are. It can happen at any time and in any place.

Matt, I guess you live and learn, one time before sunrise I tried to float across a crek' useing an inner tube and my bow, ( yes there is something wrong with this picture [] ) Somehow I got front heavey and did a front somersault in the freezing water and the hunt was totally miserable after that. I' d like to think I' ve come a long ways since then, but then again I learn something everytime I go out, Bobby
