COLORADO UNIT 55
Has anyone ever hunted this unit? Did you have any success? I am looking at an outfitter that hunts this unit and since I have never hunted it before, I was looking for some comments. Thanks.

RE: COLORADO UNIT 55
Have any of you ever hunted unit 56 northwest of Salida? What is the Elk hunting like in that area? I just drew an either sex archery tag for this unit, and any info would sure help. I have never hunted Elk before, but I am sure looking forward to it!

Tough unit. I hunted this unit last year and drew a tag this year also. I hope the draw helps nock down some of the pressure. I didnt hear a bull once and didnt see an elk until day 4. I shot one but after six hours of following good blood, it snowed about 1 inch. I am going back for revenge.

Iminrut,
What time during the season do you plan on being here-it makes a huge difference? If you come early, hunt high. If you come later, still hunt high. Generally the elk will be around 11,000 feet. Take a look at some of the areas north of Cottonwood Pass. Plan on walking your arse off! Get in the best shape of your life.
