Side arm rules, NW wyoming for elk, deer
heading out to jackson area mid Oct for elk, mulie-- coming from east coast, anyone familiar w laws in terms of shipping out a 357 and carrying while hunting? Typically you can't carry across state lines, but if its shipped, and carried only in wyoming in the backcountry, Mmm, can anyone weigh in on this one. Again, thinking about the grizzly factor...already have pepper spray.. thanks.

Hey I don't know about the transportation rules, but I do know about carrying your sidearm. Just last year they changed the law here in WY allowing you to carry your bear chaser while bow hunting. I was relieved to find out that bit of info when I ventured into the forest alone last year west of Dubois chasing elk with my bow. I never saw a bear, but the sign was all over. I had that pistol drawn at every little critter that cracked a stick. Funny now that I think back....... Good luck!

Are you driving or flying?
For grizz you are going to need something bigger than a .357! .41 or .44 mag minimal! When you get here go see Don at The Pawn Shop on Broadway. He has a few nice bear swatters.
Chances are better with 2 cans of pepper spray. Stuff works!
Pretty hard to hit a charging bear with a handgun. If you miss or wound the bear, shoot yourself. That is what a buddy who is a ranger here and a bear specialist told me!
