RE: Missionary ridge, CO archery elk hunt
Scotty; Last fall the Durango Herald had an article on Missionary ridge from the Colo DOW biologist in the area, try:http://www.durangoherald.com see the outdoors section, or the special section on the southwest hunting in the Durango area. You might need to use the search option to find the article. The Missionary ridge was recommended due to new funa growth providing food for the deer and elk. Thepopulation of deer and elk on the ridge had increased since the fires of2002 or 2003. There was a map showing the Forest roads and areas to concentrate on before and after snowfalls, if I remember correctly.HH in Pa ps; you might have lots of company in the area

Scotty; Here is the ph # for the Colo DOW terrestial biologist, area 15, Andy Holland, 970-247-0885, area 15 would cover Missionary Ridge. You can ask him questions on the elk and deer herds in the area. Also here is the ph# for the SW Regional Svc Center, Durango, 970-247-0855. At the Durango SWRegional Svc center you can orderthe 3 part San Juan National Forest maps of the NF surrounding the Durango area. This will be a good start for you. hope this helps. HH in Pa
