Default Economy/Cost to Hunt

It seems like the cost to hunt is going up faster than gas!

Anyone else hoping forcancellation 'deals' as a way to afford a nice hunt?

Honestly, most cancellation hunt prices are even going to be a bit spendy for my blood... About the only way I can afford it is to DIY...

Yes I know what you mean. I booked a caribou hunt two years ago for this year and the cost of this hunt is as much as my last 5 hunts put together. Sure is alot of $$ for the working man.

Save some $$ and keep a week of vacation open for fall. Watch ebay everyday for cancellation hunts and be ready to book. I haven't done it but paid alot of attention last year. Some REALLY good deals turn up if you are not to specific with what you want. But you are right, its not a cheap hobby!

Here what happed in Canada before when the US Dollar was worth something a Caribou Hunt was $3750
and the outfitter made $5600 Canadian , Now it is just about dead even so $5600 Canadian = $5600US + GST.

There are still some excellent hunts available on some great private ranches in Colorado for around 4000.00 and less. Some places are going up, but alot of your smaller outfits are still doing great hunts at a reasonable price. Guided hunt isn't for everyone, but a great way to go for your success. You can spend a few years coming to Colorado and never get an elk, and you have spent as much money for those trips as you would on a fully guided hunt for one year, and your success go up dramatically when using the right outfit and being on a good piece of elk property. Just a thought for everyone to ponder. Good luck to everyone this year!!!!
