Outfitters will usually help you get the meat ready for shipping, either for an extra charge, or part of their package. One Outfitter said that depending on how much meat was involved, he recommended that they check their meat on as their luggage allotment, and mail their "real luggage" back home....

Driving is the best but if you have to fly here is a little trick we use. You are allowed two bags that weigh 70lbs or one bag and one carry on. We tape our bow cases together to form one bag and then cram all of our clothes and sleeping bags into one huge duffle bag. The third bag is used for tents and camping equiptment. Its a tight squeeze but possible. Now if we take game we can have one bag left for approximately 70lbs. of meat. Have the meat frozen solid and then pack it into sleeping bag for insulation its amazing how well this works to keep meat frozen. We also have left our back packs to the side when checking in so we can carry them on as carry on with out being charged. Load them up with meat!! Wev' e done this three times without having anyone question us on our amount of bags. You will also find that the airports out west are much more cooperative with hunters than back east. Unfortunately they don' t really bend on their antler policy it cost us a hundred bucks!!!!
