RE: Where to live for big game hunting?
I would say Montana W/O a doubt. Whitetails, mulies, elk, moose, antelope, bear, cougar, sheep, mountain goats. Just about everything you could possibly want to hunt except carabou. I think that Montana is second only to Wyoming in lack of people. I would also live East of the Continental Divide as the weather is considerd to be better than the west side as far as rain goes. You are going to be living my retiremunt dream. Good luck!

hey bigbulls why are u saying that MT has awesome hunting we dont need anymore poeple moving here or hunting here. but thats definitely true about the hunting. i am only 15 but have lots of luck already. i have shot 2 muley bucks 2 cow elk and a bobcat in three years of hunting there. this last year no one in our family shot an elk and that was a first, but my grandpa was really sick so that probably had something to do with it. im still trying to shoot the lion. i walked 12 miles about a week ago looking for a track but we found nothing fresh.

Well if your tired of Michigan winters I would not suggest Idaho or Montana as an ideal retirement state although the hunting is fabulous the weather is not. I would suggest Southwestern Colorado or New Mexico..you would then have a pick of great hunting on all the species you mentioned below and get to hunt Co..NM ..UT and AZ all great hunting states.

Montana east of the divide. I live here and we never get snow in the valley. Easy living. And the hunting is better then anywhere. Big bulls, Big whitetails, and muledeer within a hour that are hugh. Hugh antelope. Some bears but not a ton unless you go two hours to the north. I live in Helena. I will retire here. Great hunting for everything in less then a hour everyway. Need more info about here email me.

If I didn't live in ALberta I think I would like Montana.
I have hunted (and killed) Whitetails, mule deer, elk, moose, black bear, pronghorn, bighorn sheep and coyotes. The upland bird and waterfowl hunting isn't that bad eather. A guy hardley has time to fish for the five types of trout or white fish, grayling, pike, walleye, goldeye, or ling.

Live in Alaska from May till the last day of September, then move to another state for the winters and do some late season elk, whitetail and mulie hunts in and around Montana and Idaho. If you live in Alaska long enough to get residency, you get free goats, free brown bears, free dall sheep, free moose, free caribou, free black bear, free blacktail, free wolf, free and unlimited small game, free halibut, free salmon, even free elk if you can get into the right areas.
Lots of people that retire in Alaska live here during the spring summer and fall seasons, and move out for the winter.
