Diamond Creek Elk Hunt
Hi everybody!
I have purchased a bow tag for the Diamond Creek unit of southeastern Idaho and I am wondering if anybody has ever hunted that unit before? It contains GMUs 76 and 66a. What are the best dates to catch the elk rut? Are there any specific areas I should target/stay away from? Thanks for any and all helpful info!
I am new here so correct me if this is not the right forum for this question...maybe I should try the bowhunting forum?

Thanks Ralph! I appreciate the help!
Follower, Right now it looks like I am going to be able to be there by 22 or 23 and stay 'till the 30th. I was planning on being there by the 15th but things came up. Also I am coming up from Texas.

I deer hunted that area about 4 years ago and got vidio of a bull that was HUGE. biggest I have ever seen. The general consensus was about 400 B&C. Maybe I can pull some still pictures off the vidio to post, they will definatly get your blood pumping.

I have hunted there a few times. Tons of hunters which means tons of pressure. It seemed like every year there were more and more hunters and less elk. We finally decided to make our annual elk trip somewhere with less hunting pressure. Good luck on your trip!
