Man you guys have it made, must be nice living in elk country, seein em,
hearin em, and smellin em.Oh yeah not to mention huntin em. us a little farther to the east (MO), have to wait till season and drive many miles. But its worth it. Lots of great pics. Hope to see something even remotely as nice come rifle season.

Watched a group of 8 bulls on Sunday. Velvet will come off in a couple weeks. Then the boys will break up and then I will be in business.

Looking forward to it myself, right after an antelope hunt and some early season whitetail archery hunting. My bud Hiawatha/Dan(from Saskatchewan)is coming down this year to archery elk hunt with me. Can't wait.

Good luck everyone.

Not really anyhurry, but I am looking forward to it.
1st Rifle season in mid-October with the turning of the Colorado aspens.

I sure do enjoy the base camp set up and camp life, camp camaraderie, visiting old time neighbors and mentors, working with the horses and looking thru some fine elk country....

The weeks worth of scouting before the season is about as much fun as the hunt....
Picking the drainage, packing back in, setting up spike camp, and later the field dressing, packing the meat out, butchering and packaging everything rightin camp.

Lowering the boom onsome elk is in that mix also but that part is short lived compared to the rest of the trip.
Y'all sure do know how to make a swamp rat mourn for the big country out there!
