It appears to be an adolescent wolf, likely been pushed out by the dominant wolves from a pack. It's probably why it doesn't seem to have a great deal of body mass either.
The large dominant wolves of a pack are considerably bigger/heavier. Their body is long, tall and big head. Paws are much bigger than a coyote and longer legs. When you see an adult male wolf there'll be no doubt in your mind what it is and why it's able to take down a full grown health deer or even larger cervid.
