Colorado WMUs #18 and #28 Info Request
Moving to Colorado this July and plan on spending my hard earned saving on some Elk and Mulie hunting before I buckle down and get a job.
I am thinking of moving to Boulder, but am not sure where I will end up in Colorado, so I am trying to avoid entering the draw so I can just buy OTC tags.
Does anyone have any info about Units 18 and 28, in addition to Units 20, 29, and 38. The latter 3 are all draw zones, the former two are OTC Unlimited.
I am interested in information such as:
1. Pressure from other hunters and reacreationalists.
2. Terrain. I am an experienced backpacked/rock climber/ avalanche forecaster, so if that has any bearing on your input...
3. Number of animals in the units. Hell, you cant hunt 'em if they aint there.
4. Road access. I got no issues packing a whole elk out if it is 15 miles or less, but we all know, the shorter the haul the better.
Also, I was thinking about moving to the Crested Butte / Gunnison area. How does this area look in terms of pressure, etc, etc.
Lastly...anyone got a job for a fella in these areas. I currently have a BA in History and an Secondary Education Certification from New York State.
I am also an experienced backpacker, sushi-sous-and catering chef, bartender-bouncer, and to top it all off, I can run equipment such as dozers, excavators, and skid steers.
Well, this is my first post, hope I am not asking too much. Any and all beta will be well appreciated.
Cheers.

Elk nut...I really want to say thank you for all that information. I would not have been able to find it otherwise...It is an AWESOME resource, and one that I am going to use well.
Also..I hear you make good calling CD's as well as DVD's....I will have to invest in them shortly.
Again, thank you.
