It was interesting to see who their “shooting editor” was back then…the one and only Col. Charles Askins. I seriously doubt that you would have ever heard him deride a weapon and refer to its shooter as “terrorist”. A gun back then was looked upon as a tool to be used in what ever way it was needed and never was it hacked on because of its looks. The gun is utilitarian and its looks should not come into play!
Look on page 35 at the ad for “Ye old hunter” and the guns shown there. Labeled as “America’s Greatest Shooters Bargains” and get a look at what was being sold back in Mach of 1957. Zumbo should look back in time a little bit and do his home work.

Great post. Thanks. While scrolling through I read the letter to the edfrom a Swedish gun advocate on page 8. I would like to know what gun ownership is available in Sweden today?

Gee that magazine looks nicer than the crapola they print today. Hope Zummy sees that issue. Today its all the latest 2900.00 reincarnation of the 1911 (that no one can afford) and the latest 2900.00 reincarnation of the M16( that no one can afford).
Perhaps in 1957 the Communists hadn't quite got settled in the Peoples Republic of Calif yet as it would have been just past the Sen. Joe McCarthy era and the liberals were still living overseas to get away from a guy who had outed their socialist intentions. I was only a kid then, but I sure miss ol Joe now.
