RE: Anyone harvested African game?
I've been to Africa 3 times. Hunted South Africa twice and Namibia once. Always hunted plains game. Never hunted any of the big 5 pockets just aren't that deep. One of the South Africa trips was a swap with a PH. The rest were bargin priced hunts with PH's I met at sports shows.

Went to South Africa in 2005.Hunted plains game on a large concession. Largest critter was a huge Cape Eland (1700 lbs.) Everything was taken with one shot each from a .375 H&H Ruger #1. It was an experience of a lifetime!

After the wife finishes her schooling and can do more with the bills i'm gonna put so much back every year for an African hunt. Some day I will go. I'm really wanting to go after cape buffalo and plains game. And I am gonna do it all with a Marlin 1895GG just b/c.

Yeah, that'll work, Teddy Roosevelt used a Winchester Model '95 carbine in .405 Win.(My dream gun).
I reckon the Hornady "Leverevolution" ammo would be the best. In .450 Marlin.
