Bear rug question

RE: Bear rug question
The last rug I had made was finished/paid for in fall of 06. 5'-9" bear cost me $750.00. It was open mouth, with a double row of bunched felt. I have another taxidermist I use who likes to lay the felt flat, but I don't care for this on a bear. Okay on a yote or cat, where the legs are thin and you are looking for a little more mass-effect.

RE: Bear rug question
I've had a few bear rugs made over the years with head mount and felt backing. I now much prefer to only have the hide taned and stretched. I then pin to wall or hang straight down from the lip. You can put some rags into the head if you want. It costs far less, just tanning. An 8 ft grizzly cost 200 bucks Canadain 10 years ago.
