You can drop Iowa yotes with .22 centerfires, but antelopes out west, well, I would go with a heavier bullet. You will deal with longer range and wind. 6mm Remington or maybe 25-06. Just for starters.

Since it seems you would be kind of new to rifles you would want to look at something that has ammo in plentiful supplyfor the purposes you listed. Antelope aren't big critters and are taken easily with good shot placement. Two cartridges well suited would be the 243 Winchester and the 25-06 Remington. There are many others but these are pretty easy to come by and even Wal-Mart (in my area) carries ammo for both. The 243 with 55 gr. Ballistic Tips for coyotes and any of the 95-100 gr. bullets for Antelope. The 25-06 with 85 gr. B-Tips for coyotes and any of the 100-120 gr. loads for Antelope.

I think the .243 Winchester, or .25-06 Rem would be the two best for the task at hand. Both will handle coyotes with no problem, and will work well on antelope. If I were after mule deer also, then the .25-06 would get the nod. Both are also readily available in just about every sporting goods store in most small towns. Not so true with the newer WSSM's.
