Late season Elk with a bow
Has anyone gone on a late season bowhunt for elk in any western state? I have not seen a hunt like this on any outfitters websites or pamphlets. I am thinking of end of October to the First weeks of November. I understand that many of the elk have moved out of the high country by then and may be on private land in lower elevations. I don't mind hunting in the snow.

Colorado does notoffer bow hunting specificly for late season Elk. Maybe a private operation(Guaranteed license)does??You can surely use a bow during rifle seasons. But keep in mind that you will still have to wear fluorscent orange if you choose to do so.You may find some reluctance from outfitters??

RE: Late season Elk with a bow
In Wyoming, there are still several areas open for elk. Most of them are drawing only cow/calf licenses. My buddy's has a license whose season goes to the end of Dec! Usually, the Jackson area has the latest elk seasons for bulls. There is hunting allowed on the elk refuge also but complicated to draw. Something like you have to have a valid elk license, apply for a refuge hunt, be present and ready to hunt if and when they draw your name, etc. Additional fees also.
As far as shooting with a bow, you can use a bow during rifle season if you want, but I believe you do have to have orange on.
