my first speed goat
Went on my first antelope hunt last weekend in NW South Dakota. Ended up getting one around mid-morning of opening day.
I was using my Ruger 25-06 with a Simmons Aetec Master Series scope and Hornaday 117 gr shells.
[edit] ok. got the pic to show up. now please ignore me looking like a doofus.

Hey congrats on the loper. Did you score him yet if so what did he score.

We measured him in the field and the horns were 13.5 (maybe slightly over) so not the biggest guy ever, but a trophy to me, anyway. Can't remember what the spread was or what the bases measured, either. We saw a few that had quite a bit more spread, but none of the ones we saw were that thick or palmated.

Nice Goat
I see you have one of those siims vibration dampeners on your rifle barrel.
Can you tell any difference with that thing at the range?
Thanks

I bought the Sims dampener last year before deer season for my 7 mag. I'd used so many of their products on my bow, I figured I better try something for the rifle. Well, this summer the accuracy of my 7 mag went to **** on me (still looking into that) so I popped it off and put it on the 25-06. Seemed to tighten them up a bit, but it was grouping pretty nice without it, too. It's right around that 1" @ 100 yards with factory ammo, so no complaints, anyway. I actually kind of like having it on tohelpkeep me from banging the end of the barrel around in the truck, etc. (if that makes any sense)
