RE: Your view on elk
Maybe I was just raise different. I've never gotten that hung up on antlers. My dad and uncle hunted deer in norther MN most of their lives. In early years, especially, it was to put meat on the table.
A clean, safe kill of a legal animal, whitetail or Elk, is more important to me than scoring of antlers. In fact, when we hunt Elk we only put in for license on cow / calf. We thank God when we're allowed the privilege to harvest one. There is excitment, but no high fives and celebrating like you often see on the "hunting programs" when "the host" kills a certain "class" bull or buck. That idea that some have that they're a better hunter than others because they take an animal with high antler point doesn't appeal to me in the least.
