RE: 5 Colorado Muley pref points
Getting a head start on next years draw? Since the drawing for this year is already underway, it would be too late to use your points. So will you have five points after this drawing or do you have5 now?
It would be very difficult to predict how far preference points will go the next few years. Are you a resident or nonresident? Nonresidents are now reduced to 35% of drawing tags at best, and 20% in trophy units. Also, the use of "point banking" this year will scew the odds. And they have the option of extending the point banking if they want to. With point banking you only use the points necessary plus 1 to draw instead of your points going to 0 each time you draw.
Without a lot more info, you question is unanswerable. Resident/non, weapon (archery/muzzy/rifle), type of hunt (hunt near roads/hike in 5 miles)
That said, there are wallhangers taken in units that have taken 0 to 2 points every year. Good luck

Well with 5 points you should be able to draw a good tag. I know of a area that you will get a good 28" buck with only 1-2 points but with that many points you might check out some of the early High Country hunts. The only problem with those hunts is that you really need to be in great shape. Most of the early hunts are either in the Wilderness areas or above timberline. You would have a good chance at unit 74 early season or for sure tag fora 2nd or 3rd season hunt inunits 66 or 67. There are also some great whitetail hunts out on the planes. Good Luck JPB
