Does anyone bowhunt moose?
If you bowhunt moose, what kind of bow do you use and what draw weight is it set at. I just started bowhunting and i have a parker huntermag with a 60# and 27in draw, if this isnt enough im planning on getting a mathews switchback with a 70# pull exclusively for hunting, since i target shoot with my bow. im going to be 16 in august and if possible i would like to save my money to hunt moose, and i would like to use a bow.

I use a Bowtech Allegiance 65# with a 27.5 draw length, montec G5's! You should be fine with your current setup! Make sure you get it in the BOILER ROOM!! That will do it everytime!

RE: Does anyone bowhunt moose?
I have been in on 18 bow kills for moose in the last 25 years. The lowest draw weight I would recomend would be 55 pounds. The broadhead you use should be just fine. As NH306 says get it into the boiler room.

Shoot a heavy arrow 500 gr,cut-on-contac BH and you should be fine.
Since you brought up the Switch Back,I shoot one for elk,and would not hesitate to use the same set-up for moose.
Mathews SB 70# draw @ 28 in
425 gr 55/75 GT Nudge arrows @ 27.5
100 gr Magnus Stingers
I crono@ 280 fps
Now I have a new bow I just bought,06 Tribute set @ 81# draw 29 in with a 400 gr arrow the thing crono yesterday @ 324 fps fast cam,and 317 smooth cam.
I'm going to set it up witha 500 gr arrow and try to get 300 fps out of her, then that will be my new elk/moose/Buffalo bow.
Keep my SB for deer and antelope and Leauges.
Best of luck

I have taken a number of moose and elkwith archery gear. As far as compound your a fine with 60lbs. I'd also suggest using a COC broadhead like the Magnus, Steelforce, etc. They makeadifference on larger game.
