New Bear hunter!
Can anyone give me some suggestions on black bear hunting? I am going to Novia Scotia this fall to black bear hunt with a bow. I am new to the bear hunting world so all the information will be helpful. Thanks

OO, Nova Scotia . . . Canada. Not real familiar but in general terms, know what it's like to carry weapons accross the border.
Also, you may want to, or even have to, hire an outfitter.
Hey Hoosier, why N.S.? There's plenty of bear just north of you in Minn / Michigan.
As far as actual tactics, tree stand over bait. Set up bait and stand so you can get a good quartering away shot behind the shoulder blade. Or at least a side "double lung" shot. Baits would be rotten fish, dead beaver, to sweets like dohnuts. I even bring a small propane burner and cook some molassis to send smells through the woods.
Hope this helps.
