Pack-in questions....

RE: Pack-in questions....
Go withthe lightest rifle. I just bought a new Savage pkg gun for my dau from Walmart and its a 270 with 3-9x32, it's lightest gun I ever had. And very accurate too. Every pound you start out with in the morn is 3# by 530pm, keep that in mind. Some days I walk all day and my ol Rem 721 with Bushnell 2.5x weighs 30# by then end of the day it seems. I may need a new Sav 30-06 pkg gun for myself .
Dont forget to take a daypack with you. I use a kids orange school backpack, many guys use fanny packs. Water is the critical issue here in Coolerado and you need to carry many many ozs. My daypack is ovenite survival stuff only plus ammo and my lunch and plenty plenty drinking water.
["While I got your attention I'll ask one more question. I have two guns to choose from. One is a Remington 700 Sendero Stainless in 7mm Rem. Mag. weighs about 8 1/2 lbs. The second is a custom Remington 700 in 300 WSM that weighs in @ 11 lbs. I am equally proficient with both guns, but don't know if the extra 2 1/2 lbs is worth the extra power of the 300 WSM. The outfitter said we will be from 9500 ft to 11500 ft."]
