RE: Elk Scope?
i have a 3x9 buckmasters as well that is sitting on a shelf. I took animals out to 365 yds with it, although my new leupold makes it no comparison. Decent scope for the money. If it doesn't work out with bigiron let me know.

Try these:

More specifically scroll down and click on the links to Weaver, Burris, & Leupold and browse through those, you won't go wrong with any of those 3 manufacturers.

RE: Elk Scope?
I highly suggest you take one or both of those jobs and save a little money for a scope. It will be well worth it in the long run. Especially if you plan on using it for elk hunting.
IMHO 2 of the best scopes for the money are the Burris fullfield-II and the Bushnell elite 3200 with the Burris being my first choice. You can purchase them for $180 if you look around.

RE: Elk Scope?
I don't know much about the Bushnell 3200's, but I had a Burris FF II on my rifle last year, and after my truck got broken into and and my gun stolen I bought a new setup with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40. I like the Leupold a lot better and the extra money was well worth it in my opinion. Having to turn the entire eyepiece to change the power on the Burris was inconvenient, and the rubber ring around the end of the eyepiece fell off after about ten trips into the field, pretty tacky for a $200 scope. If you can spare the money, go for a Leupold!
