Good luck Dayna and Howler on your elk hunts.

Still have to wait 2 weeks or so for our IL bow opener.

Good luck all-

If nothing else, at least you'll get some early season scouting in!! But at least your giving yourself a chance for success, by being out there. Good luck!

Hello Gentlemen, I was out of town for a couple days at my brother's house. He and his wife had a newbaby boy.
My dad and I went up to Dearborn to see them.
My last 3 stands go up tomorrow. Then I'll be ready for the Oct.4th opener.
I always keep my climber and 1 hang on in reserve for those hot spots.

Welcome back, and congratulations on the new nephew! I just finished putting up a two man ladder stand on my hunting property close to my house yesterday. Normally I only use my climber, but I wanted to be able to take my kids or my wife with me once in a while, so I thought it would be a good idea. I never realized how much trouble those things are to get up if you don't have three people to do the job (it was just me and my wife.) I did find out that using my climber to climb up and fasten it to the tree from the back side makes the job much easier.

I don't usually go in for ladder stands, but I got a SWEET deal on this one. I picked it up at BPS. It's the API "Ultra Steel" 15' with nice, comfortable seats, padded rails and a swiveling shooting rest. It had a sign on it that said it was on sale for $199.00. What I didn't know when I said I wanted it was that it was mis-priced. The sale was supposed to be ona lesser model, and in a 12 foot version. The receiving manager came out, looked at a few things, and explained to me that this model was actually $299.00, but said that since they had it priced wrong, that's the price I would get it for. Perhaps I should have argued with him, but I didn't.I feel a little guilty, but I won't complain about saving $100.00.

I helped my buddy put up a 2 man stand last year...NEVER AGAIN. The thing weighs a ton and it took forever.
He left it in the woods. They are a pain.
I wouldn't feel too guilty about the price. You caught a break.

I still have 10 more days to wait. It's getting closer, but it's still driving me nuts.
