Correct. Your handicap is added to your true score. If you've ever been in a bowling league, it's same same.
There are guys like Rick James who can shoot dern near a perfect score every week. I don't know about you, but I'm not that good. BUT, if I have a handicap of 15 shoot a score of 281, that puts me right up there for contention.
The guys that shoot that well have it hardest....They have to be on their "A" game every week. They have no handicap at all, so what they shoot IS their score.
Make sense?

Yup, it makes sense. Its been years since I've been in a bowling league or anything else with a handicap, so I wasnt sure. The example was easy enough to follow, until it showed the handicap being added back to the scratch average, that kinda confused me (easy to do). Anyway, Being bored tonight, I just put together an excel spreadsheet that will automatically calculate your scores, average the scratches, compute the handicap, adjust your weekly score(by addingyour handicap), and keep track of your X count. All you have to do is enter the number of 5's, 4's, and X's for each end and the rest is automatically calculated. It ain't pretty, but it works (I think). If anyone wants it, shoot me a PM and I'll email it to ya. ( edit: Make sure you send me your email address, HNI won't let me add an attachment to PMs or thru email.)

Alright, I hate to say it but its looking like I'm not able to get my hands on any 5-spot targets.
I called both local pro shops and both said they have faces, but I have to be a member or come in and pay to shoot them. They don't have individual faces for sale. Sportsman's Warehouse doesn't carry them either.

This may have been asked/addressed already but I didn't see it. Once the 2 scratch scores are turned in and our handicaps are established. The handicaps will be updated after each week of competition, right?

I have a question about rule five : Why would a photo be reqested ?
Not that I have a problem with that , I would be more than happy to post a picture of my shot - up target.
Just wondering if there would be a qestion of honesty of one's score .

Yes...it's strictly an implemented tool in an attempt to keep everyone honest. Call me skeptical. There's nothing to gain by being dishonest, there's no prize or anything.....We just felt that this would help deter the temptation of stretching the truth a little. To be completely honest, I doubt I will ever request one....but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
Nor is it that I believe anyone would lie, but like I said, call me a skeptic.....We just had to have a way to moderate it. That's why Rob wants photos of bucks w/ the bow in the bowhunting contest....There has to be a way to moderate the score if need be.
