Thanks again Guys!
My buck scored 87 2/8 if my math is right.I still can't believe
that i missed one of the biggest bucks i have ever seen.I
keep playing it over and over in my head.I think i might
be trying to see were the arrow isgoing when i shoot.
I just thought i would show you guys a few deer i
have taken from this tree in the past.
Do we get to defend our title next year?

Blue - I'm serious dude - if you're ever looking for a hunting partner...I have a bow and a car, and I make a great companion. LOL Seriously bro, those are some great deer man...and I don't doubt you at all when you describe the buck that eluded you. You've clearly shot enough big deer to know what a REALLY big deer looks like.
Now, we've gotta talk to you about these "bed of the truck" photos. Just kiddin man. [8D]
I went out yesterday a.m. with the recurve - didn't see anydamnthing. The deer are still getting hunted pretty hard by themuzzleloader hunters, so they're still almost totally nocturnal at this point. The snow cover read like an open book. Lots of heavy activity overnight. I wish I had an evening to burn. I'm almost sure I could position myself for a shot right at dark. They're still stacked up in the biggest, safest thickets, right behind all the houses. No way to access them in the a.m.
My buddy was hunting with me on the other end of the farm - heclicked on2 doe twicewith the flintlock. Those flint muskets are a real dog to hunt with. I have one, but honestly - I have more faith in the recurve. LOL

Well fellas, we've officially broke the all-time Huntingnet Bow Contest scoring record with 866" of antler. The previous record was held byTEAM XX (my old team)in 2005 with849". That was a record that I never thought would be broken.
Last night, I went on a full-out spotting mission (couldn't stand to watch Ohio State play for the National Title)- saw 115 deer in 3 hours, 8 bucks (all with full headgear)- 3 ofthose buckswere on properties that I can/do hunt. 2 of those 3 were at least 90"+, so that means I'll have some real quality (for this area)carry-over bucks left for next fall. Encouraging. One of the deer was hanging right near an area where I'd found about 15 beds only 2 days ago. Hopefully he drops his rack in the area where I can find it. Looks like he's shadowing a big doe family with a lot of young ones - waiting for those late estrous runs, I guess.
Most of the does were packed together, hanging in their traditional winter yarding areas, as expected. Pretty good deer numbers, considering that most of the locals insist that whitetails are going extinct in the area.
Lots of coon hunters out. I saw at least 3 separate trucks parked with the dog boxes in the back.
