well I've logged a few hours in stand and only small bucks are moving on our spot in Okla. as of four days ago the small bucks were still grouped up.I hope the rut will get into swing the week before gun season opens..I hope everyone else is having better luck.

Hey guys, glad to see you are all doing well. Trem, that's a great looking doe, now it's time to stick us a big boy. Dave, well done on the bacon, I'll be doing some of that this weekend out in West Texas near the Brazos River. Sorry I haven't been very active lately, I've been in the woods every weekend and have been passing on some pretty decent bucks, just not quite what I'm looking for... hopefully that will change this weekend. Take care guys.

Im back from wyoming and got one small (2 by 2) muley buck.

Back at home I went out the other night to glass some fields and saw a nice buck. about a 13" 8 point. i hunted the next night and set up where he came out. Five does came out 50 yards away and five minutes later the buck comes out and chases them around. He wouldnt come any closer. 2 does got downwind of me and busted me. I had grunted a few times by then and the buck seemed interested. But once the does snorted they all ran off into the woods. It was an awesome night. I need to get off the stupid fields and into the woods but i get home only an hour and 45 minutes until dark so id probably get busted. Im going to try and hunt the woods tonight. Good luck guys.

This morning was awesome. At first light a doe ran by my stand at full speed. no more than a minute later a small buck raced after her sniffing her trail. Within the next 2 hours i saw 2 does, a fawn, a small 6 pointer and a nice 16'' 8 point. They were all on the same trail about 50 yards from my stand. It is a permenant stand for gun hunting and has almost no cover and most of them saw me. Tomorrow im moving about 30 yards closer and taking my climber. Anyone else have luck yet?

I zipped last week in East Texas. I hunted the same area where I passed the small eight a few weeks back and although it is still torn up with tracks I didn't see any deer.
I hunted opening week of rifle season with my father and the woods were alive with atv's & gun shots. It will calm down soon.

Next weekendI should be off to my second West Texas hunt if I can get out of being on call at work.

Nothing moving this morning. Couldn't hunt on Saturday but got plenty of calls from all my buddies reporting on buck movement after the cold snap Friday night.

55 degrees at 5am? I know I didn't want to move around much, can't imagine the deer do either with their warm coats on! Come-ON cold weather!

Anything over 50 and I question it myself ;-)

Lots of good sign appearing by one of my evening stands that I haven't hunted since opening day.

Lots of does crossing roads, dead deer along the highway and live ones even out during mid morning. Ruts on around here boys! Someone shoot something with horns on it will ya?

I'm heading out tonight for the ~SIX to SEVEN HOUR drive tomy SouthWest Texas lease.
If I actually shoot a racked buck out there I'll be amazed there is any on the place.
I think when I see MY first deer for that lease my heart will start beating like it's a Boone & Crockett[8D].

I'll be there 4 days, so wish us luck.
Some pigs will most likely die, hopefully they moved on but I doubt it.
