RE: 31-Team Drop Tine Bombers
Hey guys. no kills for me yet. Almost got pulled back on a doe the other night but got busted. Last night i saw a small 4 or 6 pointer but wouldn't come close enough for a shot.
Man the rut is kicking in here. In the last week rubs and scrapes have appeared everywhere. Hopefully I can get something soon. I leave for Wyoming early sunday morning.
Good luck guys, Lets get some points on the board!!!

Well I just got back from my east texas lease. I killed 2 more hogs, a sow that weighed ~150#- she was a biggun. And one of her offspring~45-50#.
I had a small eight eat under my tree for over an hour.
2 does and a nubbin also came inot my oak tree thicket for a while before the largest doe smelled the base of my tree and got twitchy and then gathered her buds for a quick exit.
I was trying toget a shot on her, but with the 6 eyes to contend with I didn't put it together.
Oh well maybe next week.
Good luckMike, our gun season opens next Saturday here. I'll be in a box with my wife playing trigger woman for the opening morning hunt.

just checking in................ horrible weather the last few weeks here in Ohio. Rain, rain , and more rain. a lot of buck sign in area when i can get out to check and hunt a little. Bucks starting to split up and move solo from what i can see and should be pretty interesting in the next week or so for me. a lot of standing corn still and those deer stay in that stuff until it is gone. hopefully weather breaks and farmers can get some of it off this next week. check back soon, and by the way seems i'm to dumb to put that logo on my name so bare with me

Hey Fellas!
Well I did a bad,bad thing. But I'm still happy about it.
I went out yesterday (Halloween) morning before work and I got this doe. I thought for sure she was a yearling that was not yet in estrous, it's too early for that anyway I thought. She was acting a little spooky when I first saw her but thought it was probably one of the myriad red squirrels or black chipmunks that rampage this area that spooked her. SHe also came in grunting like a buck almost. It sounded like she was pissed off. I should have thought twice about that.
But she gave me a PERFECT broadside shot at 18 yards after stopping briefly behind a pine tree to let me draw, except she moved just before I shot causing me to hit a little too far back for my liking. Luckily I must have hit the descending aorta cuz she only went 50 yards and piled up.
The thing is, when I started dressing her, she spewed out what I can only assume was buck semen! It was I guessed about two tablespoons of yellowish white goo! Suddenly I realized that they were probably doing it right there 50 yards away from me! And there was probably a lovesick buck not far behind her! Oh well. I left enough of her scent in the area on the drag out, just too bad it rained this morning.
Here's the pic:

eueweee, still steamin buck seamen?? TMI, TMI .
Did she even get to smoke her cigarette before YOU nailed her?
j/k
Congrats on the doe, I wonder what Big Daddy looked like?
BTW, a tracking dog guy I know has stated a few times (quoting from a book) that rain and moisture actually help scent stick around compared to dry weather situations. The rain washing scent away is just a myth.
Go get your buck, I hope you pulled her tarsal glands; they must have been smelling JUSSt right!

Maybe that's what she was grunting about? She was asking for a smoke!
I cut out and bagged the tarsal glands last night. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to get back out there till Monday morning at the earliest. My wife is having a little "procedure" tomorrow and I'll probably need to watch the kids all day on Saturday. [&:]
Temps are supposed to start dropping after this storm moves out!

Frustrating as heck.
Hopefully I'll connect on one in the morning. If I do, yall'll be the first to know. One of em was a nice buck.
