Wade
Great to see your all set and rarin to go [8D],it never seems like there's enough time to get the stands all in and ready to go as family life is always calling for something[].
Guys we had a great start today as we got into where we wanted early enough to scan the mountain side and see what we were going to chase.Right of the bat the elk were bugeling. So we had to climb and cross a canyon and the chase was on [:'(].
We started calling at 9am and got an instant response .Little did we know, their were 3 hunters down on the road who had elk in their vision too. Well to make a long story short we had them comming to our calls and and answering us too. We dragged them across the basin and half way into the next basin till we got back to our truck. Not 5 minutes later as we started lunch the 3 fellas walked to our truck and asked if we had any luck!!![]Answer was we used them to try and draw the bull that was keeping just in front of us as we used them as a decoy[:'(].They weren't happy campers. I lost my wisker buisuit 1st thing in the morning ,so I was doing all the calling. The afternoon was spent buying a drop away rest and resighting in at all the distant's needed[:'(]. Got back out by 6 pm to the slight drizzle of rain ,and now their calling for the next 4 days of rain. Man I'm hoping that we don't go up to high in the rain and get soaked and get hypothermia and freeze to the mountain[X(]. If you guys are into prayingpray that the rain dosn't happen. Till tomorrow, God Bless and be good.

Rta47

Hey Rta,enjoy the good things that our kids bring us while there stillat home with us,their only home with us a short while and then there gone. Sure good to see your doing just that, I used to love coaching and watching my kids play ball and swim when they were younger ,seems to me that most parents want to either want their kids to excell at what they do or see their selves in their kids footprints and wish it was them who was doing the great things there doing.
Also don't worry about me RTA,I'll giver till I drop. Thanks for the word of encouragement. Actully I did drop didn't I???? 20 feet to be prcise, LMAO ,and my butt cheek is bruised.
We have a lot of time to hunt RTA and so be it,other things will come up and we'll still have time to hunt that great elusive animal we call the whitetail. Heads up bud and good luck in your future hunts RTA47.

MNhunter 82

In reply to your question on scents, I tend not to use any scents in the eearly season and rely on tickling of antler and doe calling. October 1st is the majic week for me up here in Alberta and the deer seem to come to the horn the best then. Around November is when I start to use doe in heat by Code Blue and use it on a drag rag then hang it in a bush with in 15 yards of my stand and down wind of me.Good luck and good Hunting MN.

Day 7 of 10

Well guys the weather is not co-operating and the rain has been heavy for the last 2 days.Went out this morning and didn't see scwat again. Looks to be clearing this afternoon so we'll be heading out in the am after the big 340 plus bull we located during the week with 6 cows. We know their are 2 good bulls up their and a lot of cow. It just blows me away that these animals can get so high up and also the terrain that they can live in [:'(].
Buellhunter hang in there bud, patience is the name of the game and being a whitetail hunter you surley have a ton of it . I'm resting my foot for the day as I did some damge somehow to my ball of my foot and am not able to walk today very good. So tomorrow were hoping will be the day of flinging arrows. Talk to you all soon.
