Training Dont's
Negative Reinforcement
Negative reinforcement and/or punishment is the opposite of positive reinforcement. This means doing something unpleasant to the dog (physical abuse-slapping, hitting) if she does something wrong. This will make the dog realize "I had better do this/don't do this, or else...", which does not create a happy, excited dog who looks forward to training. The dog will most likely resent the person, making training hard for both trainer and trainee. This type of training is also cruel, making it unacceptable in today's society

When Not to Train
Never train when there is a lot of commotion or people around, as this will take away from the ability of the puppy to concentrate on learning. Always do it when you and the puppy are alone, either indoors or outdoors. Do not have a training session right after feeding time. The puppy will have a full tummy and feel sluggish, and will not feel like focusing on the task of learning. Do not attempt to train the puppy if you have had a bad day or feel like your patience is not up to par. You just might become more easily frustrated when the puppy is not doing exactly what you want, and take out your frustration on the dog. Do not get angry or upset with the pup, just skip a day or do it later in order to keep the lessons positive.
