With the popularity of ground blinds on the rise, a number of new ground blind accessories have appeared on the market almost as fast as the blinds. Below are a few must-have ground blind accessories.
There are lots of chair options for ground blind hunters. There are lightweight fold-up chairs, lawn chairs, and my favorite…if I want a sore back - the five gallon bucket. There is now a new chair that was designed by Huntmore Products called the 360º Hunting Stool. The stool is compact, folds up and slips into a pack that can be carried over the shoulder. At eight pounds, the stool is slightly heavier than most chairs, but the added benefits of the stool outweigh being a little heavy.
The stool has a padded backrest and a padded seat, so hunters can sit for hours on end without getting a sore back or bottom. The stool has adjustable legs so hunters can adjust the stool up and down so they always have enough room to draw their bow and shoot through the window in front of them. The die cast aluminum hubs rotate 360 degrees quietly without squeaking so hunters don’t blow it in the moment of truth. With the 360º hunting stool, the only problem hunters may have is trying to stay awake.

Eastman Outfitters has introduced a Tri-Pod Bow Holder. This 3-legged bow holder is perfect for hanging bows in ground blinds. It has 3 stable legs that keep it from falling over and is coated in rubber so the unit doesn’t make any noise when hunters remove their bow for the all-important shot. When not in use, the holder folds up for easy transporting to and from the truck.
If hunters want all of the advantages of hunting from a ground blind and want to hunt from an elevated platform, they should check out the new Brush Hog Quad Pod from Ameristep. This large platform can accommodate a blind that is as big as 60x60 at the base. The platform is eight feet off the ground, allowing hunters to see deer as they approach from a distance like they can when hunting from a regular tree stand.
One of the toughest things about hunting from a ground blind by yourself is trying to video tape your own hunt. Pine Ridge Archery has a product called the Turkey Pod that is extremely lightweight. It has a 360 degree head and can be set up right next to you in a ground blind. Simply screw your camera onto the swivel head, put the pod next to you, stake the pod to the ground, turn your camera on and you will be ready to hunt. Point the camera out one of the windows and forget about the camera. Concentrate on making the shot with your gun or bow.
