2008 was another incredible year here at BowhuntingWhitetails.com. Our clients harvested some of the largest whitetails ever, including a monster 180 class buck taken on one of our farms in Iowa.  Congratulations to all of our successful hunters on their incredible success, we're looking forward to having you back in 2009 for even better luck!

Here are just a few of the trophies taken by on our semi-guided hunts in the fall of 2008.

In spite of the warm temperatures this big 10 point was up on his
feet in early November looking for does.  Congratulations on a great buck!

Reflecting back on 2008 brings memories of the highs and lows of what can happen in the deer woods throughout the Midwest. Anyone who was bowhunting during the first week of November last fall can attest to probably the toughest deer hunting in many years due in large part to a week of 75 degree temperatures.

During this first week of November, I actually had the pleasure of working with two members of the Mossy Oak film crew, Rusty McDaniels and Chris Henley as they filmed me and another client last fall. Unfortunately, we didn’t get an opportunity at a mature buck, the weather had the bucks shut down but we did get a lot of great footage of many bucks.

Chris and I were hunting over a cut bean field one evening with the new Primo’s Scarface buck decoy and captured some of the awesome footage of a buck coming into the decoy. This nice 3 ½ year old buck walked in stiff legged, postured, staggered sideways, had his ears pinned back and it was the best reaction to a decoy that I’ve ever seen while in a treestand. In fact, the footage was so good that Mossy Oak plans to use it in their future video production.

After hunting hard with Mossy Oak for five straight days, Chris & Rusty departed for another hunting destination and then the cold weather broke, which got the bucks back on their feet again. During the second week of November I had clients kill some incredible bucks that would be some of the largest bucks ever taken on our trophy hunts.

Our Cuddeback cameras worked very well last year and we captured some great bucks in Illinois and even on our Ohio properties. Be sure to check out our Trail Camera section of our website and see the numerous bucks that made it through the hunting season. In Ohio last spring we had a turkey hunter find a matching set of shed antlers from a 14 pointer that gross scored 194 inches with a conservative inside spread guess of 20 inches. This buck was not taken by our clients, all accounts show him alive, still walking around and we’ll see if we can get his sheds from this spring.

We are now booking a limited number of semi-guided hunts for 2009 so if you're interested please call or e-mail ASAP as these spots are filling up fast.  We have some amazing new farms to hunt this fall that are sure to continue producing record book bucks for our clients.

New Illinois Lodge

I wanted to let all of you know that I have been working very hard over the last two months and have made some major improvements to my outfitting services for 2009. I’m proud to say that I’ve secured a spectacular hunting lodge in Illinois that will dramatically improve the whole hunting experience. This lodge is adjacent to several trophy managed tracts of land that are proven producers of giant whitetails and are sure to be some of our most popular and successful hunts.

This 4-star lodge is absolutely immaculate; at nearly 6000 sq ft, it can sleep up to 26 people, has three levels, 8 bedrooms, 7 baths, walk-in cooler, sits on 20 acres and has a small lake with a beautiful backyard view of the woods. Words just cannot describe this lodge and you just have to see it to believe it. Please visit www.bowhuntingwhitetails.com for more photos and details.

This lodge was operated by an outfitting service called Midwest Whitetail Adventures http://www.midwestwhitetailadventures.com/ and has been one of Illinois top outfitters four years in a row. Hunting celebrities like Michael Waddell from Realtree Roadtrips has stayed in this lodge and be sure to check out their website for all the big bucks they have taken over the years.

Midwest Whitetail Adventures Outfitting Service is truly a first class professional operation; I respect and admire what they have accomplished over the years. I will run this operation to the best of my ability, with a total commitment to quality, great customer service and full commitment to all of my clients.

I do have several bookings for this lodge already, I will be limiting the number of hunters and I don’t expect these spots to last very long. I plan to offer a mixture of semi and fully guided hunts with stands, guides, cleaning service and a professional cook. For my clients who have been so good to me in the past by recruiting hunters, I will be offering a substantial discount if you can book a large group of hunters.

I will also continue to offer the same do-it-yourself style hunts that I have done for the last 7 years. At this early stage of the year, I will be offering discounts for hunters who pay for their hunt early and by paying in full by March 15th. Also, this lodge will be available in the off season for turkey hunters, travelers or possibly as a bed & breakfast in the future.

This is going to be our best year ever, I work very hard for all of you and I’m sure this will add greatly to a successful hunt. See you in the fall!
